DJ GREEN LANTERN

DJ Green Lantern rose to prominence when he dropped the first of his now legendary mixtapes in the mid-90s. Since then, Green Lantern has used his unorthodox ideas to create excitement-building mixtapes and remixes for artists ranging from Jay-Z to Linkin Park, Rick James to Korn, all in a distinct style that constantly reinforces his title The Evil Genius. After launching his career as an in-demand DJ in his hometown of Rochester, NY, Green followed his producing destiny with that first mixtape release. Combining unparalleled creativity with high production quality, his mixtapes quickly began to develop Green’s name on the streets.

It wasn’t long after that the industry came calling, when Eminem’s manager tapped Green as his tour DJ for the Anger Management Tour. Green soon found his skills sought-after by a number of companies, including Roc-A-Fella, Heineken, Def Jam, VIBE Magazine, and Ecko Clothing, among others. When he parted ways with Eminem and Shady Records, Green found himself in even higher demand, producing hits like Jadakiss’ “The Champ Is Here” and Ludacris’ “#1 Spot,” remixing Terror Squad’s “Oh My God” and Akon’s “Ghetto,” and proving himself to be among the top in hiphop production. Green has also stayed true to his roots by continuing to release his highly coveted mixtapes.

Following (insert year) Invasion series, he released Tupac: Rap Phenomenon, where Green combined Tupac’s definitive songs with performances by current artists – an innovative take on mixtapes that garnered major attention from MTV to Rolling Stone. From 2005 to 2006 Green collaborated with Jadakiss, Beastie Boys, and Beanie Siegel in addition to releasing another mixtape series, Countdown to Armageddon. His busy, heralded year culminated in an overwhelming show of respect and recognition at the 2005 Justo Mixtape Awards, where he won four awards: Best Mixtape DJ, Best Producer, Best Mixtape (for “The Champ Is Here”), and Best Mixtape Duo.

Never limiting himself, Green has also found himself in demand in other mediums, acting as official DJ for And 1’s Streetball video game, where he also mixed the soundtrack and created original music for the game. Green will also be featured in an upcoming Grand Theft Auto video game release, and hosts radio shows on both New York’s Hot 97 and Sirius Satellite Radio. Green Lantern is the official DJ for Jay-Z, who with Russell Simmons recruited him to sign as an artist to Def Jam. His debut album, Invasion, is scheduled for an early 2008 release on Island/Def Jam Records and will push the boundaries of the traditional DJ compilation – “mixing genres of music like other DJs mix songs,” says Green Lantern. Although keeping quiet about any other details of the album, The Evil Genius promises many surprises on his self-produced first release.

Always in demand, Green is currently busy developing a wide variety of new talent with his gift for seeing what an artist represents and then creating music to bring out their best. He is working with artists like the gangsta rapper Uncle Murda, who he also helped get signed to Jay-Z’s Roc-a-Fella Records, new R&B prospects Dante Hawkins and Dwayne, spoken-word/rapper Qadir, and Orlando-based group Treal, all for Fall 2007/early 2008 releases on various labels.
