Bree Stevens's Blog

  • This Weekend & Stuff 07/10/2008 02:30 PM

Hi everyone - good morning really - it's early for me in the summer - I like taking full advantage of sleeping in when I can - but can't sleep so here I am.  I think I'm a bit nervous about Friday and Saturday.  If you read the blog about my drummer, you know why.  We have a fill in drummer (Rudy) who is very good but we don't have the "tight" feeling that I'm comfortable with.  I'm sure we'll do fine.  Still a little uncomfortable. -------- Don't know how many of you are Texans but I'd love to have a slide and fiddle in the band....or if you know someone who lives South of Corpus, send them my way.  ---------Best wishes to all.  Have a wonderful week......bree

  • New Video 07/09/2008 06:50 AM

    Hi Everyone!

I wanted to tell you what a great time I'm having listening to your music.  There is some serious talent on this site and some outstanding music.

I posted a new video of Small Town Nowhere for you to see.  I hope you like it.  It was written about my great grandparents who have loved each other almost 70 years....crazy.  My grandfather can barely walk now.  His health is deteriorating and my grandmother has dementia which is very sad.  But they get up in the morning, eat breakfast together, she plays the piano while he reads the paper.  She pets her crazy black cat while he reads and answers his mail.  They sit and look at the lake, watch a little tv, listen to gospel music, eat some dinner and call it a day.  They still hold hands and he will pat her hand or her arm.  He tells her he adores her.  It's really sweet.  To be in love that long is pretty much a miracle these days.  We should take a lesson from them.  I hope I am as luck as they are.  Ok, end of novel.  Enjoy your day and I hope you like the video.

    Bree

  • He did it again! 07/08/2008 10:11 PM

A couple of months ago my drummer, whom I adore, rolled his truck coming home late from his day job.  He tore his shoulder and was out of commission for about a month.  Today he called with bad news, he hydroplaned (it's been raining cats and dogs in Brownsville for almost a week) his dad's truck into a guard rail.  He is not hurt like he was before (thank God!) but he's re-injured his shoulder :(.  Sooooo, tonight we're practicing with another drummer again so we can gig this weekend and next.  What am I going to do with him?
