Though she grew up in a small town in Colorado, Carrie was never content with small-town life. She quickly escaped to the big cities, first London to study marketing and promotion at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design and then Los Angeles where she worked on a variety of projects from music video production and art direction to wardrobe styling and high profile event production. She packed up and moved to New York homeless and jobless, though swiftly found herself in the heart of it all working for downtown staple Paper Magazine as its Senior Marketing and Events Manager. Carrie joined the team at Gen Art in 2005, where she works as the Music Program Manager and has taken on the task of growth, development, programming and event production for its Music Department as well as editorial work on its online entity Gen Art Pulse.
