radioski (emphasize the "o") 02/22/08 11:28pm
Right now I feel like I'm standing on the edge of a cliff with a big apparatus on my back that is supposed to make me fly when I jump off. For those of you not really into analogies, I'm going next level here, people. The gigs keep-a-comin'. I fly to colorado tomorrow for what started out to be a ski resort tour and has turned into a radio-promotion extravaganza. I started getting on-air radio shows and they didn't stop! I'm really excited about playing the venues and ski resorts around this beautiful state, and I'm also excited to hit the airwaves. Feb 26th is when "Keep", "Day Dreamer" and "16 Walls" will be officially added to radio stations' playlists across the U.S. of A. so this tour is sort of the kick-off to that.
I'm gonna rock some bunny slopes. And wear big fuzzy boots. And bring my swimsuit and pray for hot tubs.
On another note, but slightly related, it's my birthday in a half hour and instead of bringing me a bottle of wine or sending me a year's supply of Skittles, I'd really like just one person you know to hear a tune of mine - email them the website, myspace page, or heck, buy them a CD! (But don't cancel that Skittles order if it already went through- i'll sign for them). That's all I want. And my two front teeth. (wait, that's a different national holiday).
So, check out the shows page at www.cbemusic.com to see the growing list of performances and pick which ones you want to come to. And then tell your buddy.
Last thing. In my blogs, I want to start letting you know about new artists that I've had the pleasure of seeing live, and passing them along to you. I've finally learned to not compare myself to other musicians who are on similar paths to me. And now that I have, I can really appreciate them. And to me, part of appreciating something is sharing it. So, this month, if you haven't already met them, I'd like to introduce to you my friends Josh Dion and Sara Bareilles. Josh's band is the HOTTEST thing in NYC right now. You leave their shows totally in love with life. That's what he and his band and his albums do to you. www.joshdion.com. Check it out. Sara's my first "famous friend" who's keeping it real, and her song "Love Song" is literally taking over the world. She's got an adorable new website too. www.sarabmusic.com.
That's all. Live music, packing like a snow bunny and birthday gifts. Sums up tomorrow for me. Happy weekend, and keep in touch!
love, love, love,
~Cheryl

resolution resolved 01/08/08 10:30pm
i've learned a lot last year. some stuff other people definitely already knew, like, that you chill red wine 15 minutes before serving. Some stuff i learned about myself, like, when i commit to something, it can take months for me to realize that it's in motion, and there's no turning back. Unless i commit to turning back. But that gets complicated. Let's keep it simple.
Long story longer, I made a resolution last year to be an inspiration through my music. Full time. And somehow, as if just by declaring this as my life, it has turned real. I am now, 100%, full immersed in my life as a performing and writing musician. It is so exciting, especially as more and more people validate my resolution. I'm in love with what I am doing, and all it takes is love.
So my resolution for this year is just a continuation of last year's. I will be in touch with you, and I want to hear from you, as you are my inspiration. (Funny how that works- i aim to inspire but am largely fueled by those who i'm trying to inspire.)
Much 2008 love,
Cheryl
