Jack Ingram began his career over a decade ago in the hardscrabble honky-tonks and dancehalls of Texas. After paving his way to stardom by providing music to the local Texas community, Ingram has earned a rightful place at the top of country music after being named the 2008 Top New Male Vocalist of the Year for the Academy of Country Music. The accolade marks his first nomination and first win by the ACM. Ingram has spent over a decade earning the respect from his community -not to mention his heroes. Prior to Ingram’s music career he studied psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He tied his psychology education and music passion together to produce hits that led to the meeting of his current manager George Couri. Couri recognized Ingram’s connection with his audiences and knew he had the necessary “it” factor for stardom and played a vital role in Ingram signing with Scott Borchetta and Big Machine Records to make the ultimate “Dream Team.” In a whirlwind of different label situations Ingram produced “Electric,” which hit the stores in 2001. He says the process of building a fan base, significant life changes and signing with Big Machine contributed to the five years it took to produce his current album, This is It. During the months preceding the album release, he was the most played new artist in 2006 according to Mediabase. In April 2007, This Is It, debuted at #4 on the Billboard country album chart. The album hits include his first #1 song, “Wherever You Are,” along with Top 10 hit “Love You,” “Lips of an Angel” and a duet with Sheryl Crow “Hold On.” Esquire named him the 2007 “Best Country Artist.” Newsday predicted, “If you can't find something to like on Ingram's new "THIS IS IT" album, you don't like country music.” He has been critically acclaimed by Chicago Tribune, Country Weekly, Dallas Morning News, Newsweek, People and The Los Angles Times and his idol, the late Waylon Jennings called him “an incredible talent.” Ingram is currently on the road with Martina McBride on her “Wake up Laughing” summer tour. He previously has toured with big names Gary Allan, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley and was the sole opener for Sheryl Crow’s 2006 summer tour. He has made numerous appearances on network television including GAC’s Short Cuts series and co-hosting GAC’s 2008 ACM Preview alongside Miranda Lambert and Nan Kelley. Ingram will participate as a judge in the season finale of The Next GAC Star.
