DEANNA MITCHELL spent her life prepping to become a major country artist... but, she didn't know it until she took the stage with a band called Due West*. Born in Connecticut and raised in Missouri, Dee got her calling to country as a young girl courtesy of her parents vinyl collection. Thanks to many nights of seeing Robert and Florence cuttin the rug to a CCR country groove Dee caught the bug. After finishing school, she left home and led a gypsys life for more than a decade. From St. Louis to Calgary, Canada -- from Maine to Miami, Deanna sang -and lived - it all. Years of belting out the standards in ballrooms and rocking backwoods roadhouses helped to cultivate her incredible vocals. She had found her true talent but, lost her way in life. She almost gave up on trying to make it several times. Maybe the inner strength she tapped into as a cancer survivor helped her to keep on - keepin on. Or maybe that calling she had back in the day returned for a repeat engagement. One thing for sure -- it was music, country music - that helped her find her way -- and her way back home. Fast forward to 1997 and the last place on earth many people would mention in the same sentence with Country Music, Connecticut. But, what better place to kick start the career of Deanna Mitchell. The missing ingredient was a band that could deliver the real thing. Then, along came Jeff and .Due West*. When Deanna teamed up with songwriter/guitarist Jeff Solomon and the Due West* band, things came full-circle she found her country groove. Deanna and the boys built a loyal following from Downeast Maine to New Jersey, taking country's greatest hits to the next level with their faithful, yet Dee powered renditions. After seven years of playing the northeast country music circuit, Deanna and Due West teamed up with fellow GAC contest participant, Donny Sawyer. For the next year and a half, Mitchell and Sawyer together wowed the audiences with performances that they're still talking about. For the past three years, Deanna has been and continues to be a featured performer at the world famous Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville Connecticut. (refered to as "Nashville of the north") She can be seen in their "Wolf Den" venue generally doing 10 or more shows a season.
