The band began working on original material from the outset. With a number of fantastic songs already written, recorded and produced, Kites Of Iona continue to strive forward. You have to check out 'Its So Easy', 'Lay Down' and 'All Fall Down.' The band are currently working around the clock writing new material and if any of the old material is anything to go by, were all in for a very pleasant surprise. The band consists of four members with a love and passion for music. They are determined and motivated and as they write more music, their enthusiasm grows. The band began working towards a progressive rock song with some fantastic melody and a melancholy vocal. With a strong batch of songs at their disposal, they decided it was time to get their asses into the studio and get recording. They decided on the wonderful masterful production skills of Neal Calderwood at Manor Park Studios and produced their first E.P which can be found on the website. 'Kites Of Iona are a energetic 4 piece rock band from Derry City, Ireland.Blending melodic vocal harmonies with soaring guitar and infectious rhythms for the last year. The band really began with each member deciding they were finished playing in cover bands and having a need to write our own material.Each member paying their dues in the local pub scene.The band consists of Steven Mc Cool -Vocals,Gerard O' Doherty- Guitar,Christy Fleming- Bass and Chris Towe- Drums. As soon as everyone was on board it was to Gerards flat/practice room to play and write.Before long we could hear a style developing that had each member adding their own unique flavour. So when we felt confident enough in our own song writing ability we decided to play our local pub circuit .The reaction was great which enabled us to take the next step and record our first EP.We recorded our 3 track EP with Neal Calderwood at Manor Park studios.The tracks put down were Carve and curls,In a sense and A piece of me.All of which we posted on our myspace and Bebo sites to great reviews. With loads more material we felt we needed to get back into the studio as soon as possible and so once we had the cash it was time to release another EP.Its so easy,All fall down and Lay down again all of which we posted on our myspace and Bebo. Our plan for the future is to gig whenever and whereever possible and to get back into the studio. '
