When I was in 4th grade I saw "Animal House" and it changed my life. I wanted to be John Belushi. In fact, after I graduated from college I overdosed on cocaine and heroin and died. I grew up in Princeton, NJ. My parents were both college professors. My Father's name is English; he teaches French. My Mother's name is Elaine; she teaches English. Growing up I wanted to be a cartoonist; to draw pictures of ferns and lamp shades in the margins of The New Yorker. I hated middle school. I had a second life changing experience in high school when I visited my sister at Yale and she took me to see their improv group, Purple Crayon. I was blown away. That night I said to myself, "When I grow up I wanna do comedy." Foreshadowing. I had my first comedy group in high school. We were a hip-hop/improv troupe called The Disposable Rappers. After high school, I went to NYU. There I met the guys and gal of what would eventually become The State. At that time we were called The New Group. We made comedy our life. It was amazing yet I longed for the "traditional campus experience." I transferred to Brown. I stayed involved with the New Group all through Brown. After college, The New Group changed its name to The State. We started making short videos for a show on MTV called "You Wrote It, You Watch It" hosted by Jon Stewart. There were 11 of us. We shared an office and a weekly paycheck meant for only one person. Michael Black and I regularly shoplifted bologna from Key Food. From our short videos on "YWI,YWI" we got our own pilot and then our own show. "The State" lasted four great years. We went on to make an album, a book, and an infamous Halloween Special on CBS (featuring Sonic Youth). After the State I chain smoked, read Stephen King novels and played chess in Washington Square Park. After that I was in the original cast of a play called "How I Learned To Drive." In 1997, Michael Black, David Wain and I start doing a show in New York City called Stella. In 2000, David Wain and I made the sleep-away camp comedy "Wet Hot American Summer." It went to the Sundance Film Festival in 2001; it was released that summer and re-released years later as a midnight cult movie with kids dressing up as characters from the film. Stella began touring around the country. I wrote a script called "The Baxter," a romantic comedy about the paradigmatic "wrong guy." IFC Films financed and distributed it. It was my directorial debut. The movie starred myself, Michelle Williams, Elizabeth Banks, Justin Theroux and Peter Dinklage. Stella got picked up as a series on Comedy Central and was named by "Entertainment Weekly" as one of the Top Ten TV shows of 2005.

UPON FURTHER REVIEW:After a few communications with marcstedman, I found that although we can't all agree on the system, that he is doing his best (and brilliantly) to keep this as fair as possible. Just like in everyday life, lots of good and fairness has to be sacrificed to keep everything in line and as fair as possible. Not to mention, there's probably a lot of things to consider that we know nothing about, nor would we understand.
His quick responses, especially the one that we got when I posted the possible cheating system, (as it was fixed within hours), has gained MY TRUST in him. Maybe not fully in Music Nation it self (as I am yet to hear from them on any topic), but in the overall system provided by marcstedman himself! He obviously has nothing to fear by responding, and THAT I HAVE TO RESPECT, as well as MARCSTEDMAN himself.
Overall, he has provided a system that allows us to show our art, and a way for us to possibly collaborate with one another, and THAT IS THE REAL SHIT!
I'm am not bowing down to anything, I am just calling it as I can possibly see it best. I think that marcstedman IS ON OUR SIDE!
Love always, LSD

I THINK THAT EVERYONE WHO IS A MEMBER OF MuiscNation, has EARNED an explaNATION or at least an idea of how your competitions work. There are many of us who fully support M.N and the artists here. I personally have given my all in bringing in traffic and members to support myself as well as this site. But there's a lot LOT of us who don't understand how on the last day, that most of the top 20 artists, were artists that DID NOT have an impact throughout the SPIN HOT PURSUIT comepetition, and were TOTALLY under the radar all of a sudden were the top 20 voted. Also, it is very peculiar how with the exception of about 6 artists, they all resemble the same genre or sound (if you will), as the 4 picked by MN to advance.
I've never gotten a response from MN YET, and I truly don't expect to get an answer. But please know that along with these topics, it makes you look even more GUILTY of being unfair as far as the outcome of this, and some of the other competitions hosted by Music Nation.
This public message to MN, in NO WAY, SHAPE, or FORM is meant to take ANYTHING away from the advancing artists. I TOTALLY find them to be incredible. I am in NO WAY questioning their credibility, but I AM questioning the credibility of HOW THIS COMPETITON is run, and WHOEVER runs it. LIKE I SAID, we have EARNED the right to know, and I would think that you would not want to leave a bad taste in the mouths of your supporters. You KNOW as well as I do, that I AM NOT ALONE in these thoughts and questions, it's just a matter of trying to have faith in what we support, and / or having the balls to question you.
SINcerely, LSD.

Today's Spotlight / salute, brought to you by LSD: (PLEASE READ ALL OF IT. IT'S ABOUT YOU)Wow. I just woke up from only about a couple hours of sleep, and I don't mainline speed anymore, so please excuse my lame wording. Okay, first off I wanna say that you all know that since we are in the dark at the moment, that I 100% share your feelings in multiple "genres", if you will.
Be strong, and know that although this was an absolute grueling competition, and that most of us worked very hard, that our work HAS NOT BEEN IN VAIN. We have all been heard by more people in far away places, that we could have ever hoped for. PLUS (big plus) obviously THIS WILL NOT BE THE LAST COMPETITION here at MN. Lots, lots, LOTS more to come. We also learned soooo much about ourselves and eachother. The collaboration potential is amazing as well. All in all...............FREE PROMO BABY!!!
Ahhhhhhhh, but now comes the absolute most important part of this comment. You ready? Here it comes.....................
LSD's spotlight salutes (A very VERY special one):
If you notice below, there are no links, nor are there names. If you also will notice, you as well as I, in an unselfish quest to explore new artists, probably haven't heard your own music in a while. Or not in depth anyway. In this, it is very EASY to forget what you think about YOURSELF, how you feel about your music, and how great you are, along with your absolute endless potential. Especially after hearing some of there fucking geniuses here at MN. So, the music I want you to focus on today, and the music I am saluting is very simple, and you won't have to go far to hear it either.
Put on headphones, and as loud as you can, listen to yourselves! This is the music that I mostly recommend for you to hear! It is also the music that I can guarantee you'll find to be just what you're looking for. Feel it just like the day you wrote it. The emotions of love, anger, joy, dedication, the person you wrote it for or about, etc, etc, etc....... as the magic of these songs are the ENDLESSNESS of them.
That's my word for today. Thank you for EVERYTHING ladies and gents. The "Nation" loves you!!!
