No, this does not not prevent him from bringing you the latest in music news from hipper-than-thou indie rock darlings.
He just wanted you to know that he, from time to time, will unironically rock out to his favorite never-cool Canadians, Geddy, Alex and Neil.
Imagine his (ok, my) surprise to happen upon this clip of Carbon Leaf covering Rush's "Tom Sawyer" on New Year's Eve. And doing it not only spot-on (not an easy task) but without, yes, irony.
