COVER STORY: TEN BEST SLEEVES EVER?

In this special edition of COVER STORY, we take a look at what one popular music webzine in the U.K. is calling the top ten album covers of all time.

Understandably, this list is very, very ... British.

The top pick in Music Magpie's reader's poll? Joy Division's 1979 LP Unknown Pleasures. Scratching your heads? You've seen the cover, trust me.

Take a look:

The image for Unknown Pleasures was the brainchild of artist Peter Saville, based on a picture Joy Division guitarist (and now New Order singer) Bernard Sumner found in an astronomy book. The cascade of pulses represents the energy of a dying star. The next year, Joy Division vocalist Ian Curtis would off himself.
