SCAR-JO ON THE RADIO
Tue, Apr 15, 2008, 5:39 PMWhat sounded at first like a vanity-project-mocking headline from the Onion -- "Scarlett Johansson to Record Album of Tom Waits Covers" -- is finally coming to fruition.
Anywhere I Lay My Head releases on May 20. First the good news. Scarlett's on the cover:

As for the music inside, well... that's a matter of taste. The album was produced by TV On The Radio's Doug Sitek. Perhaps then it shouldn't be too surprising that the music sounds like... TV On The Radio. With a ludicrously hot actress singing Waits' lyrics over top (or at times buried underneath).
A few songs from the album leaked yesterday -- before they were quickly taken down by someone all-powerful. We got our ears on them, however. And if those tracks were any indication, Scarlett seems to have the left behind in Tokyo the emotion and spunk she displayed singing karaoke to Bill Murray in Lost In Translation.
