THIS DAY: GEORGE MICHAEL GETS HIS FREEDOM

On April 8, 1998, Brit pop singer George Michael posted bail following his arrest in a Beverly Hills park for "engaging in a lewd act."

As Michael later described the incident: "Well, I was followed into the restroom, and then, this cop — well, I didn't know he was a cop at the time, obviously — he started playing this game. I think it's called 'I'll show you mine, you show me yours, and then when you show me yours, I'm gonna nick you'!"

To be fair to the officer, Michael was humming "I Want Your Sex" at the time.

Not one to miss an opportunity, Michael made an elaborate video based on the arrest that featured uniformed police officers in heavy make-out and restrooms that morph into discos.

Needless to say, the cop that "nicked" Michael was undercover at the time -- and none too pleased with the "Outside" clip. He later sued the singer (unsuccessfully) for emotional damages.

Now, ten years to the day of Michael being released, the singer is back on another comeback gambit. After a lengthy hiatus, Michael will tour the U.S. this spring.

No word yet if the tour dates will include any state parks.
