HEY YA: BIG BOI PLANS BIG SOLO ALBUM

I know what you are thinking. Wasn't the Grammy Award-winning double-disc Speakerboxxx/The Love Below really two solo albums -- one by Big Boi, one by Andre 3000?

No, that's just ignorance. It was clearly labeled OutKast on the CD spine. And if you hadn't downloaded it illegally, you would know that.

This time, however, there is an official solo album afoot by one-half of the OutKast operation. Big Boi will drop "Sir Luscious Left Foot... Son of Chico Dusty" later this year, via the Laface/Zomba label.

Alas, the album, which Big Boi hopes to wrap up by late summer, will still feature Andre 3000. The pair both appear on the first single, "Royal Flush."  (Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan also features on the tune.)

This recalls how Andre and Big Boi were all over each other's "solo" halves on Speakerboxx/The Love Below. Hey, it's hard to break up a good team, even for a second - or an album.

Big Boi has said that his solo debut disc is very topical, with commentary on the state of the world, the economy, and politics.

The news follows on the heels of the more surprising Big Boi project of the last twelve months: his "Big" collaboration with th Atlanta Ballet. After a run of dates at Atlanta's Fox Theater, fans across the world might get to see the way this ballet moves. Big Boi is currently planning a world tour for "Big."

But don't fret about a potential OutKast split with all of Big Boi's (and Andre's for that matter) activity. Because "OutKast is everlastin'." Remember?
