YOU CANNOT STOP THE CHESNEY

Try as you might, haters, you can't stop Kenny Chesney's inexorable rise to more fame, fortune, and cowboy hats with a Caribbean flair.

On Sunday night, the diminutive country star took home the Academy of Country Music entertainer of the year award -- for the fourth straight time. This ties Garth Brooks, who accepted the "Crystal Milestone Award" for his career achievements. ("Crystal Milestone"?! Time to come out of retirement, Garth, a la Rocky V and VI, and defend your honor.)

For the first time this year, votes for entertainer of the year were cast via the Internet -- and Chesney won anyway. Though he did later speak out against the "sweepstakes" aspect of Internet voting. Sore winner? Nope. Just trying to keep his achievements real, y'all.

There were surprises at the ACM's, however, as newcomer Miranda Lambert took home album of the year for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." Lambert has yet to score a top 10 hit, though that is now likely to change.

As likely as Chesney walking away with entertainer of the year in 2009. Book it.

Other winners on Sunday night included Brad Paisley, for best male vocalist, and Carrie Underwood, for best female vocalist.
