COLDPLAY USE MSG FOR WARM-UP GIG
Tue, Jun 24, 2008, 2:32 PMViva La Freebie. British mood-rockers Coldplay appeared last night at Madison Square Garden for a concert promoting the band's latest disc, Viva La Vida, as well as an upcoming mega-tour. Cost of admission: $0.00 and two hours of your life. But did fans get their money's worth?
Well, the band did play 70 minutes, which breaks down to about $0.00 per minute. The set drew mostly from the new Brian Eno-produced record, with a few hits such as "Yellow" and "God Put A Smile On Your Face" sprinkled in.
Coldplay also used two satellite stage set-ups, one of which was located at the rear of the hall. Please tell me this well-worn arena-rock cliche is not the reason for the stated "production issues" that were said to delay the "proper" Coldplay tour, set to begin on July 14 in Los Angeles.
Oh, and you'll have to pay for that one. Cheapskate.
