JESSICA SIMPSON COMES OVER TO COUNTRY
Tue, Jun 10, 2008, 12:00 PMWith the success of her debut country single, "Come On Over," it's official: Jessica Simpson has left the pop world. Goodbye L.A., hello Nash Vegas.
"Come On Over" was met with healthy skepticism among radio programmers, according to all reports. People did not want to like it. Yet either the song is an undeniable toe-tapper, or Papa Joe has a band of heavies -- because against all odds "Come On Over" bowed at #41 on the Billboard's Hot Country Charts last week.

Clearing that hurdle (for the record, #41 is a good debut) was probably Simpson's toughest test in her aim to switch genres. It also helps that she is somewhat hot.
