CRUE DECLARE MTV TOO 'UNHIP' TO DISH DIRT
Tue, Jun 24, 2008, 6:19 PMReunited sleaze rockers Motley Crue are actively seeking a new partner to produce a film based on 2001 band bio, "The Dirt." The band originally had partnered with MTV Films/Paramount to make the feature, which would chronicle the rise and fall of the LA foursome. But MTV, bassist-songwriter Nikki Sixx said recently, has been dragging its feet, and added that the channel used to be hip -- but no more.
Now on the brink of another massive world tour to support Saints of Los Angeles (out tomorrow), which is based on the tales inside "The Dirt," Sixx used the band's recently re-lit spotlight to announce the search for a new production company to help get the film made.
Fans of the Crue (and frankly, non-fans -- a shock-tale of a book, "The Dirt" transcended the metal demographic and was a huge hit) have been waiting impatiently for a movie version of the bio, ghost-penned by Rolling Stone writer Neil Strauss. For his part, Sixx is sick of waiting to get it off the ground and onto the screen.
This will be a feature film -- and not a documentary -- which begs the inevitable question: who will play Vince, Tommy, Nikki, and (most intriguingly) Mick.
Thoughts?

screw mtv they should go for vh1,vh1 classics or fuse.Running Thoughts says
The only people that can portray Crue would be unknown actors/musicians. Good luck finding a kid as hot as Sixx was back in the day ;) -- And how about getting an indie filmmaker to direct and/or produce this film? Just to avoid Hollywood being able to bastardize the 'underground' like they've done so many times before.(PS. Nikki's totally hot now, I'm just referencing the time period the movie's covering)

I've always wanted to see a CRUE concert, ever since I was young but it just never happened, then they split. I even hung out at the Dollhouse "in Ft. Lauderdale" to see if I could at least meet them & that never happened either. So if they produce a "world tour" maybe - just maybe I might get to see them this time around.tellor006 says
I think that Motley Crue was correct about MTV being un-hip because MTV is supposed to be music television but they are more about shows.
