NEW MORRISSEY LP DELAYED UNTIL '09

Sad news indeed for already morose Morrissey fans (ok, fine, including me) as the Pope of Mope's new album is pushed back from this fall to early 2009.

Years of Refusal, Morrissey's first studio LP since 2006, reunites the former Smiths' dandy with producer Jerry Finn. Finn manned the boards for the singer's 2004 effort, "You Are The Quarry."

Finn, however, endured a massive brain hemorrhage last month and is still recovering in a hospital.

What might tide over Morrissey's fans, who of late have enjoyed a wealth of touring from the reclusive artist, is a reissue of the overlooked 1995 solo album Southpaw Grammar. That record featured dark violent singles alongside a ten- and eleven-minute album opener and closer. A curious album indeed, from an utterly curious man.
