OASIS SHOCK ON NEW ALBUM AND SINGLE
The Gallagher Brothers of Manchester always seem to time it just right. Just when you are ready to write off Liam as a buffoon and Noel as a derivative songwriter past his prime, boom, Oasis drops a surprisingly (always surprisingly) strong album.
Dig Out Your Soul comes out Oct. 7 in the U.S. The first single, "The Shock of the Lightning," is already on the radio. Here's a handy preview via YouTube:
Kudos to Noel for retracing some steps back to the band's 1994's debut Definitely Maybe here -- this is pure, dynamics-free rock, and it works. Meanwhile, Liam sounds at his reedy, petulant best.
