CHAD VANGAALEN: FROM HIS BASEMENT TO US
Tue, Sep 16, 2008, 02:40 PMChad VanGaalen is known for much more than his reclusive lifestyle and rarely wanting to leave his basement. The artist from Calgary has made a name for himself through both his music and his animating and illustrating talents. In 2005 he released Infiniheart followed closely by Skelliconnection in 2006. As if the music weren't enough, VanGaalen also designs art to accompany some of his songs. His third album, Soft Airplane, was released on September 9 and was recorded on an old tape machine and a JVC ghetto blaster, making it that much more unique. His music and art can best be described as eerily dreamlike and are likely to be enjoyed by fans of the band that once was The Unicorns and is now known as Islands. Check it out for yourself if you don't believe me.
The following is VanGaalen's animation for the song, "Molten Light" from his brand new album.
