Spin Hot Pursuit - Bye Week

Wasted Years (VTZ beat)

Date Added: December 19, 2007

Description:

Same old story different words Days are numbered living on this Earth Regrets man, yeah I might just have a few I’ve been thinking about what I've been through with you The Wasted years the time gone by I could drown in the tears of those I’ve caused to cry In my life, my life. You gave me so many chances I was raged, caged, enslaved by my own madness Renewed in you I’ve crossed the bridge from east to west Denied emotion trust the notion you know what’s best and yet Hold me close at dawn of a new day Face the memory You hold me close even though you paid the price for me Wash me white as the snow outside the window I can’t stand that old man take me away from him again

Rarely do songs so convincingly express the emotion of their lyrics. Even without the words, I would have known what it was about. While we can regret missed opportunities, there is beauty in the flow of things that keeps us going. The true beauty of this song is in its presentation, the distorted guitar floating in the background is sweet, and the haunting vocals add emotion and an individual flair that works very well. This was not the kind of sound that I first expected to hear coming to this page, having heard other songs of yours. That is indeed a good thing, and it shows that the emotion and the words guided the writing of this music and not some formula that has worked for the band in the past. 5 stars for capturing that emotion in sound so well,as well as for providing a highly enjoyable listening experience.

this song sounded great to me right from the piano intro. what a beautiful melody and very nice harmony in the vocals. as with all your songs, the lyrics are introspective, thoughtful, and relevant. the instrumentation and style reminded me of a mix between linkin park's my december and emm gryner's stereochrome, both songs i really like. very impressive!

The lyrics are thoughts out of my own head. Very relatable and convicting, but with that scarlet thread of redemption and hope. Thanks for such a clear message in so many of your songs...you're more straightforward with your faith than you think. I like the low key arrangement, it's very appropriate for the lyrics.
