Music Nation is a Music Video Competition for Independent Artists

P-Jo My real name is Paul Jorgensen. I was born and raised in the northwest suburb of Chicago, Arlington Heights. I have a wonderful family of five and a great group of close friends. I've been listening to hip-hop and rap music since I was in elementary school despite the great differences between these stars and me. After listening to their music for years, I began questioning what it was that made me listen. Throughout high school I had no beats to write music to and was limited to free styling. I then collaborated with Thomas Alexander the founder of JUGGO Apparel Company and producer Matt Skoog and made the JUGGO music video. This video is unique in the fact that it was my first and the first music video that brings golf and the JUGGO lifestyle together with hip-hop. Once I got to college, I met a producer, Antonio McFadden, who makes unbelievable beats. I started writing songs about my life, leaving out the lies and exaggerations. You will never find me talking about killing people, selling cocaine, bling bling, and all that nonsense. I realized that there are millions of kids who love rap music but won't listen to it because of its subject matter and lyrical content. Most of my friends and kids like me listen to rap music even though they can't relate. I am bridging the gap between music I love and my everyday life. If the audience of hip-hop and rap was solely gangsters and killers, that would mean there are millions of killers and gangsters, which we all know is not true. I see too many people trying to live up to the gangster image they hear about, when many of these rap stars are just images themselves, not gangsters. I will never hate on this gangster rap because that’s what I grew up listening to, I just feel the time has come for a change. The rap game needs someone like me. It needs a spark. I am ready to change the game. Because after all, even Nas agrees, "Hip Hop is Dead". Peace and Love.
