OVER THE EDGE was the last song written for the new album. Milton brought the major part music to the table and just a few rough drafts later, the music was complete. After the guys had completed recording vocal tracks one night, Bret and Dan started work on the lyrics to what would be the final Pyro track to make it to the new album. The major reason for the song was to add another flavor to the already colorful track list. The band wanted to basically give the listeners a wide spectrum of songs to choose from, but at the same time trying not to venture so far out of the bands signature sound that it would come off like they had recorded some other bands song. The number one rule for the new album was to give the fans what they wanted to hear, and at the same time incorporate how the bands sound has evolved in the past few years. Over the edge was not written with the same goals as most of the other songs on the album. The band wanted to deliver a more raw and emotional drive that inevitably gave the song its own personality and life.
