Not Jamaican

Date Added: February 06, 2008

MP3 Description:

From Windowpane's first recording, Windowpane, ~ 1991. We were Denvers WP, not Seattles. This song is a true improvisation, a jam we did after a recording session because we had a few minutes of tape left. That's right, TAPE. Windowpane, on this album, was Kenny James - drums, Tom S. - bass, Tim Edwards - guitar, and me on guitar and guitar synthesizer.

nice touch on the breathy flutes...as ben says, demands pristine technique. dig da wah mang. love the bass tone. it is nice to enjoy guitar mastery that does not exhaust me to listen to...as JM would say..."its better live". superb robert!

It has all the makings of a perfect jam. The movement is spectacular. I 'm impressed. If what Ben says is true, and I know nothing about Ben that would support such a blasphemous accusation, I'm really impressed. The sound quality is nice. Great tone on each instrument. Kudos.

the slow build to near chaos is awesome... Jamming is one of the purest and most emotionally charged forms of music. Four guys praying together, total communication that no words or structure could ever express... Awesome!

Most people might not realize just how spectacular this actually was to see someone making these tones on a guitar ~ as there is no keyboardist on this recording !

And Robert really does put on quite a show in the mastery of the techniques that are required to actually produce such a diverse array of electronic timbres and moods , as it's really not a thing that any old guitarist can just pick up and play traditional bags on the guitar synthesizer ~ at least not in obtaining familiar & predictable results ~ as the pitch to voltage technology even of this day had demanded that the actual fingering , picking , and melodic phrasing be executed in specific manner that was quite unforgiving.

For the electronic musician in the know ~here is nothing like jamming with people on a properly plugged in Guitar/Synth ~ as it allows a sonic muscle and respect that not even a conductor commands !
