Ode To Trane
Date Added: January 26, 2008
Description:
Another Good Vibes Quartet tune, written by pianist Joe Bonner, a jazz great from the sixties up to the present, and former member of the GVQ, who I humbly replaced in 1999 when he had to take some time for his projects, this is I think the most beautiful tune I've ever had the pleasure of performing. He wrote it the night he heard of Coltrane's death. They were friends, as Joe was part of the real scene at the time. Along with albums of his own, Joe's claim to fame was a record with Pharoah Sanders.

Ode to Trane is one of those compositions that keep you traveling through distances beyond reality. You did a great job with the strings. I really enjoyed the song and had to keep listening to it...(<>..<>)

Ode to Trane is a cool whisper that permeates from vents all around my living room providing me with a subtle cool instance of that long ago time when I had that umbrella drink and I went for it gulping it quickly to get at the pineapple oragne flavor that moistened and beckoned my thirst. In my overindulgence I felt that same cool as the interplay of your guitar with the xy. Cool song, . .really cool. - MarkBalls Deep n' Your Girl says
Your use of delay and volume swells, as well as your tasteful playing; make this like an ambient piece. I could loop this in the bkgrnd all day. Great Job.balls

This is a very informative audio description , as Joe Bonner is a distinguished vibe player in his own right , the fact this is a tribute to one of his contemporaries , and an amazing jazz pioneer at that, and the fact that he'd also played with a real saxophone legend in Pharoah Sanders , only goes to show Mr. Tiernan has been around the block a couple of times himself !!!!!~ The Altruistic Messiah ~ a.k.a. ~ Ben Vandagriff says
Simply wonderful !I saw a forums post once that stated MN had a crummy Jazz Station. I'd cited you as one example of how many really good artists we really do have here , & this is another feather in the cap of fantastic music you are providing us with. Many Stars , love & admiration to you my brother !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
