Info

If you are craving some bluesy Texas Style Hard Rock and Southern Outlaw Country, with a little Red Dirt on top - Lynard Skynard meets Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society half way with hues of Kansas, Whitesnake, Yngwie and SRV you are going to love Smokin' Joe Thunder and His No Good Frens. Smokin' Joe was born in Beaumont Texas, the land of Edgar and Johnny Winters, and grew up in the East Texas towns of Lufkin and Nacogdoches. His tunes reflect the rich heritage of his East Texas Southern Rock roots. "Smokin' Joe's No Good Frens provide detours into hard-edged shredding and impressive solos, but Smokin' Joe's musical framework comes from a Southern Rock perspective. Guitar heavy melodies create a grinding, driving wall of sound. Smokin' Joe also reveres the lyrical message and story quality of his original music as commentary humorous and otherwise recounts tales of things on a Southern boy's mind; things like personal freedom, over regulation by Uncle Sam and common social activities such as hunting "The Wild She-Beast" as Unknown Hinson would term it." ~ Anthony Davis ~ Texarkana Gazette~ Band members aka my "No Good Frens" are: Dearl Guest (lead guitar); Josh Pinkham (lead guitar); Richard Redfearn (bass guitar); Bum White (drums / percussion) and Smokin' Joe Thunder (vocals, accoustic guitar, writer, composer, arranger, producer). Guest member: Mark Kerr (plays all lead guitar on "Lone Star Angel" and second lead guitar on "Bang Bang"). Mark Kerr is the Blues Hall of Fame representative for the State of Louisiana. Other musical instruments were played by long time friend, Bryan Jeffries of Over The Edge Studios in Texarkana TX. Smokin' Joe Thunder & His No Good Frens will be releasing a 10 song cd in the fall of 2007, and another 10 song cd as soon as all the currently written music can be recorded. Smokin' Joe Thunder & His No Good Frens are available for live performances. Smokin Joe Smokes!
I love it when you dig deep and put some feeling into the song. I agree with the last comment, you need to take some of the effects off the vocals, but all in all, i could feel it and I liked what I heard. Keep it strong, Dan Dailey

I liked the groove, the vocals kinda left me hanging with the strange effect. A clear singing voice would have done this tune good.
