Once again, the hip-hop community spoke, and once again, they made The Game No. 1. With Dr. Dre and G-unit clearly in the rearview mirror, the Compton-based rapper entered the Billboard charts for the week of November 20th with his second album, Doctor's Advocate, atop The Billboard 200 debuting at number one. With nearly 360,000 units moved in its first week, Doctor's Advocate was able to beat down competition and has since been certified platinum with a lot of momentum from a couple of hit singles, "It's Okay (One Blood)", "Let's Ride" and “Wouldn’t Get Far” featuring Kanye West. The 16-track, 73-minutes-plus album has been lauded by The New York Times as the "best hip-hop album of the year." Doctor's Advocate features a who's who of collaborating talent, ranging from Kanye West and Snoop Dogg to Jamie Foxx, Nas and Will.I.Am. It also boasts a top-level group of hip-hop producers including West, Scott Storch, D.J. Khalil, Ervin "E.P." Pope, Reefa and Just Blaze. Needless to say the accolades and recognition are only just beginning and Game is appreciative and philosophical about success. Game has also tried his hand at the big screen by co-starring in the film “Waist Deep” alongside R&B singer/actor Tyrese. In addition to Game venturing off into films Game has also set his sights on the apparel industry, thanks to his unisex shoe line, Hurricane. “The idea of reaching outside of music into fashion really interested me. I’ve got total creative control with Hurricane, great partners and the opportunity to step outside of my genre and be an entrepreneur on another level. Doing a sneaker is a lot doper than I thought it would be.” A joint venture with luxury lifestyle company 310 Motoring, Hurricane launched in December 2005 and the recent release of his Hurricane II collection is already selling out in all of the major shoe retail outlets. “It’s an original. The look of the shoe isn’t a rip off of any other sneaker. It looks hot and it’s also the most comfortable sneaker I’ve ever worn. “ Films. Music. Fashion. If you think Game’s plate is full, think again. Add to the mix his label Black Wall Street. With a roster that includes producer Nu Jersey Devil and rapper Juice, Game’s banks on Black Wall Street becoming a major industry force. “I’m looking forward to having 5 successful albums and then at the young age of 30 I plan on stepping outside of rap music to be what Jay- Z, Diddy or Dr Dre are and working on giving my label longevity.” That same desire extends to his own career. “I’ve still got a lot of stories and things I’d like people to know about my life, growing up in Compton. And I’ve grown since the first album, I’ve seen Europe and other countries so I'm coming back harder than ever. I’m here to tell my story.”
