THE LUXURY: The Luxury's songs are melancholic, melodic, and intimate, even as volume swells and soundscapes gain altitude. Comparisons to classic and modern British rock abound, and appropriately so. Formed in 2005 by critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Jason Dunn after the dissolution of The Halogens (his previous group), The Luxury has been transmitting their mix of Britpop-tinged anthems and driving rock gems to the delight of music lovers anywhere and everywhere. Dunn is joined by Justin Day on bass, Dannen Krouth on lead guitar, Steve Foster on drums, and Steven Borek on keyboards. The band's debut album, This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, was the 13th most added disc in the US upon its release to radio, charting with CMJ immediately and garnering airplay on over 150 stations nationwide behind the lead-off single, "Seven Stories". Check out the tongue-in-cheek video for "Malcontent", and you'll find the blend of humor, misery and melody that makes the Luxury tick. This lovely sock puppet-ridden video also managed to boot the band into the opening slot for Coldplay on August 4th, 2008...which the band is STILL excited over. We have also released a new single for our rabid fans, "Next In Line" - as a thanks to your continued dedication and tremendous support over the last several months.     I also wanna say congrats to everyone in this comp for getting heard and getting the recognition that you all deserve. I know I at times displayed my emotions in ways that was not cool. But it's all in the growing up department, and we all evolved from this. Just keep keeping it real, and we will once again (soon I hope), be side by side in our quest for success and being HEARD! Here's another idea for being heard! There's a new page on MN called "Collaboration Nation" for the listing of music that are collabs between 2 or more artists on MN. It's not just there you can be heard, but if you collaborate with other artists in other genres, then your limitations to which contests you can enter just opened up to an endless selection.     I just want to say thank you...
    This competition has been a real learning and growing experience for me and my music. We have created friendships that will last far beyond this contest. It's been a manic-depressive carnival ride of emotions throwing us from elation to sorrow in a moment, only to swing right back to jubilation.     So it's finally come. The last day of this interesting competition. One last time I want to thank any and all who sent a vote my way during this crazy ride. At this point I think pretty much anybody can make a run for the top 20 and I'm sure by the end of the day the right people will be where they should be. Although I don't quite agree with the way this competition was handled, I'm kind of glad it did go down this way. There may or may not have been cheating in the beginning, people can complain that they didn't come up in the head to head player as many times as others, some may even consider it rigged. The way I look at is this: this is a community for musicians to meet, build relationships, and interact with other musicians who share the same passion for music as you do. These competitions are meant to help artists get heard by the whole community and bring other people into the community. For that I am thankful. I have been a part of many online music sites where artists put up their music, look for reviews, acceptance, and fame, basically whatever they can get. This is the only place where I actually felt like part of a community. I know it may seem like i'm just beating a dead horse saying how much I love you guys night after night now, but I just want to make sure the community knows that after this competition is all said and done I will still be here and I will still be showing love to all of my friends that I can honestly say are a part of my life now, and I have Music Nation to thank for it. Sorry i'm taking up so much space in your comment box haha i'll shutup now. Anyway, i'll end with saying its been a pleasure, and I can't wait to see how this turns out!
