"The Rhodes are an unusual act for their time; dressed in black, moving like riders, smiling like crooks and howling like holy men... A sound all their own, The Rhodes struggle to outrun the crippling reign of modern media, writing and playing music once presumed dead. Their pursuit is real; through the streets of Jackson Heights, riding the rails beneath New York's merchant ports, performing through the tar-thick air in countless black basements... they've been fashioned into seasoned musicians and writers. Blues, soul, western, folk, and rock & roll all minced, kibbled and mashed together in a single set. The Rhodes refuse to remain still, refuse to be ignored, and refuse to use synthesizers (but not photosynthesizers)."
