What is it about needing to come home to find what you're looking for? The old adage couldn't have been truer for Springfield, MO singer-songwriter Seth Truett. After graduating from college and splitting with his band, the young troubadour moved to Austin, Texas, home of all things music. But starting over proved harder than he expected. "I had a bunch of songs ready but I couldn't find a band that I clicked with," says Seth. So he returned to southwest Missouri to record his solo debut, The Wind Is Gone, with the legendary Lou Whitney.

The Wind Is Gone is 11 solid, timeless songs unhindered by fads. Imagine an American Noel Gallagher with less sneer and more heart, and you've just scratched the surface of Seth Truett. There is no "I" in "Rock & Roll," however, so Seth joined forces with bassist Chris Greig, guitarist Dave Price, and drummer Adam Cochrun to complete the four-pieced rock puzzle dubbed Truett & the Traitors.

Truett & the Traitors and their incredibly accessible brand of rock and roll, with three-part vocal harmonies and grooves that make you want to get up and dance, have been touring from town to town and consistently impressing fans of all genres with their high-energy live sets. Their rocking has garnered media attention on the local and national stages, such as from Doug Brod, editor of Spin Magazine: "Nice stuff...very well-crafted and -played songs. Some of the vocals on these songs have a Liam Gallagher feel-- a good thing."

The songs are too good and the live band too solid not to be shared. Truett & the Traitors are poised to grab the rock scene by its throat and not let up until they have what they want: just a piece of the pie, and "hopefully an appearance on Conan O'Brien. He's just fantastic."

    Hello there - so happy to see you're from Springfield, MO - just stopped through there the other day, had a burrito at El Presidente. This music is good, it's evident you guys have the ability, but I wouldn't mind hearing the music take more chances. It seems a little safe, lacking recklessness. But hey, don't be reckless, don't be restless - there are so many ways to write and play music, you know? I agree with another comment that it's sexy, so that's fun. It might be a little too bar band for my tastes, but that seems to be the direction you want to be going in with that catchy guitar line, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Thanks for letting me hear the stuff, and good luck!!

    Nice stuff, guys. Very well-crafted and -played songs. I'm especially impressed by the changes on "Take It Back." The '60s-inspired pop chorus reminds me of bands like the Turtles. Some of the vocals on these songs have a Liam Gallagher feel-- a good thing. If I have one criticism, it's that lyrically you could be stronger, more clever. Try to avoid cliches such as "the world around you," "restless soul," "feet on the ground," "keep the fire burning," etc.

    Wow. I just woke up from only about a couple hours of sleep, and I don't mainline speed anymore, so please excuse my lame wording. Okay, first off I wanna say that you all know that since we are in the dark at the moment, that I 100% share your feelings in multiple "genres", if you will.

    Be strong, and know that although this was an absolute grueling competition, and that most of us worked very hard, that our work HAS NOT BEEN IN VAIN. We have all been heard by more people in far away places, that we could have ever hoped for. PLUS (big plus) obviously THIS WILL NOT BE THE LAST COMPETITION here at MN. Lots, lots, LOTS more to come. We also learned soooo much about ourselves and eachother. The collaboration potential is amazing as well. All in all...............FREE PROMO BABY!!!

    Ahhhhhhhh, but now comes the absolute most important part of this comment. You ready? Here it comes.....................

    LSD's spotlight salutes (A very VERY special one):

    If you notice below, there are no links, nor are there names. If you also will notice, you as well as I, in an unselfish quest to explore new artists, probably haven't heard your own music in a while. Or not in depth anyway. In this, it is very EASY to forget what you think about YOURSELF, how you feel about your music, and how great you are, along with your absolute endless potential. Especially after hearing some of there fucking geniuses here at MN. So, the music I want you to focus on today, and the music I am saluting is very simple, and you won't have to go far to hear it either.

    Put on headphones, and as loud as you can, listen to yourselves! This is the music that I mostly recommend for you to hear! It is also the music that I can guarantee you'll find to be just what you're looking for. Feel it just like the day you wrote it. The emotions of love, anger, joy, dedication, the person you wrote it for or about, etc, etc, etc....... as the magic of these songs are the ENDLESSNESS of them.


    That's my word for today. Thank you for EVERYTHING ladies and gents. The "Nation" loves you!!!
