Pure folk. I think there will be a revival soon. Newport 2009. The Philip Watson Experience. Opening for John Prine. Cool salt sea air, 1000s of fans spread out on the lawn, waiting to hear this new folk sensation. I hear a hammered dulcimer. (Try Fiona McAlister on MySpace.) And I hear a short bridge to the last verse with a short instrummental break to bring it up to the needed 2:30 - 3:00 for folk airplay. Reminds me of a Tammy Makem and the Clancy Brothers tune. A high compliment. The sentiment is perfect. Love.

I agree with Mark, anything you add will have to be soft and light yet harmonious. A harmonica, dobro, bajo, bass acoustic or stand up, fiddle, autoharp, or some other Earthen instrument. Since you sing of the mountain, I think of NC and the hill that lie here to the West, the struggle the people with stoic resolve must endure. I love your voice. Its like smoky silk. Cool song Philip.

Sounds good in this simple arrangement...I would not add too much...maybe some violin, piano...maybe. This song is one of those pieces where the story and melody carry the day...lovely
