Hey John, you'll have to reorganize that top group a little. Rolling Stones, The Who, and Led Zeppelin are GREAT bands. They influenced musicians who have influenced musicians. They are no ONE HIT WONDERS. I put U2 in the Good category because they did not really influence musicians to duplicate their sound, but their lyrics, song construction, and live performances, plus over 20 hits make them very close to the GREAT group. The Police are like this as well
Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Ramones, Cream, and the Kinks definitely are GOOD Rock Bands that have a following and influenced some to their style. GNR is the closest to tapping the mainstream and cross-over. BAD ROCK BANDS - Radiohead has had one Top 20 hit. It is nice that that song is a testament to Gen Xers but before that song and after, they have consistently put out nothing but random noise. Let them sell their music direct. WHo would buy it anyway? There are some people who like white noise but I have to think there must be a lyrical pitfall in the talents associated with that band. How can you assign Rock Bands with over 20 hits to a BAD status? Aerosmith, though not a pioneer, still did some firsts like putting a stamp of approval on RAP music to help validate it to the white community. All of your BAD Rock Bands except Starship share a common thread in that they had one, two, or three commercial hits but really are genre specific with no potential to cross over to be enjoyed by all. I put Jefferson Starship/Airplane in the GOOD Rock Band category as they came at a time when it was cool to have structured songs and great voices. (Does that mean they can write and sing?).

Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes is a very true representation of rock and roll. They are not a studio band, and that is what I like about them. Phenomenal stage presence. Those guys can really rip. Shake your money maker john nation
